Is it normal that i daydream excessively and talk to myself while doing so?

Ever since I was a child, I have been prone to fantasizing and behaving in a generally Walter Mitty fashion while doing so. I have a bizarre compulsion to engage in elaborate and often stimulating fantasies involving a number of strange concepts and I sometimes talk to the individuals in these fantasies. Because of this, I have had very few friends throughout my life, and have often found myself preferring my fantasies to socializing or engaging in real world activities. Though I sometimes make plans to do things in the real world, I inevitably end up fantasizing as opposed to doing anything constructive.

  • You can be a daydreamer and lead a social, productive life. Don't let daydreaming be your excuse to check out of life.

That's a pretty childish and sad life, I'd say. Time to grow up and join the real world and get a real life. It may not be as pleasant as your fantasy life, but I'm sure that in time, it will prove a rewarding and much more satisfying one.
