Is it normal that i don't really like meat by itself?
I'm not talking about unseasoned by the way, I'm talking about as a main dish.
I like meat when it's paired with other foods, like on a sandwich with vegetables, in a salad, as a pizza topping (preferably with vegetables as well), in pasta, etc., but I find steak, chicken breast, eggs, fish, etc. as a main dish to be pretty bland, even if it's seasoned well. I guess I like it in small doses over as my main course. I think it pairs well with other foods, but don't like it enough to eat it just by itself, even with side dishes.
Every time I've cooked it or watched it be cooked, it has always looked and smelled much better than it tasted. It's usually disappointing and never lives up to its expectations. Even picking up a rotisserie chicken from the grocery store is not as good as I expect. It always looks and smells much better than it tastes, even if it is a "good" one. Every once in awhile I'll find a good meat dish at a restaurant, but even then most of the time it is underwhelming. I'm definitely a bigger fan of vegetables than meat, but meat seems to be the thing everyone else really looks forward to.
