Is it normal that i dont belive in god but i believe that people have souls

The title pretty much says it all to be honest, i do not belive in God (as i think that the Big Bang has more evidence and that it is more believeable) however i feel that us as humans have souls. Does that mean i belive in a highe being? Or does it mot have anything to do with God?

Is it normal? No. Does that matter? Also no.

Most atheists I have been in contact with are atheists for the very simple reason that there is a severe lack of compelling evidence for any theistic claims. As such, most atheists don't believe in souls either due to no compelling evidence for them either.

Souls don't necessarily have to do with a higher being as they potentially could just be a function of the universe itself and have nothing to do with any deities at all.

Just as a side note, the Big Bang doesn't necessarily exclude God at all. I believed in both for a long time as a Catholic, along with evolution, abiogenesis by natural means (this is unproven currently), and quite a few other things that might be considered heretical. The key factor here is that all of these things that have been discovered were formerly the domain of the various gods; these were just the various gaps that gods provided answers to. However, the gods of the modern age are trickier. These gods inhabit no area in space, are outside of time, can do anything, and can for inexplicable reasons make everything appear as though they are not even necessary at all.

These new gods take nothing more than skepticism to dispel. Apply the same amount of incredulity that you would when someone tells you they have a billion dollars in their pocket as when someone tells you they know god.

    Demand evidence.

As a side side note, sorry about the note being longer than the actual comment. I tend to ramble sometimes, especially on this type of subject.

It's possible you might believe in a Higher Power that doesn't fit any preconceived notions of God.

Well I believe that your soul is your being and in other words you yourself is part of god and everything else in this world is :)

I agree. Not the big bang part, but I believe that the existence of the soul is something one can arrive at somewhat logically (it would obviously depend on what you understand by a soul, but I'm talking about the existence of a "something" inside us), while the existence of god is more of a psychological urge for order, or purpose, or whatever. And that the existence of the soul does not in any way imply the existence of any kind of deity external to it.

Alright, first off... define "soul". Is soul defined as the human affection/mind/thought processes? Or a piece of us that loves on after death? I'm an atheist so I definitely don't believe in a soul. But that's alright (:

I've heard of spiritual atheists so, you are definitely not alone. :)

I'm not trying to push you into anything! I'm serious, I'm just trying to help you. So, have you ever thought about how the Big Bang Theory and God can be combined? I mean, one can't tell the other didn't exist. The Big Bang Theory says the universe came from a single point that exploded and made the universe be in expansion until nowadays. The question is: where did that tiny point came from? I don't think the world came from nothing. It doesn't make any sense and to me God started the Big Bang. :)

I also believe people have souls. We're too special to be such mediocre beings. I love a quote that says "How strange it is that people get used to something as extraordinary as living" life to me is fucking magic. We all have something good inside of us. In my opinion that's a little part of God. We're all tiny drops and together we're part of Gods sea :)God pure is love, happiness, kindness.

This is my POV. hope it helps you :) Bye!

I don't believe in "god" as the religions explain the idea, but neither have I dismissed the possibility of higher beings who evolved and continue to evolve, just as we humans are evolving. There does seem to be some kind of collective or planetary consciousness though.

I don't necessarily believe in "God" but I don't real out the idea that a higher being can't exist beyond our perception. I believe in souls the same way, I don't think it has to do with god, it's just up to our own beliefs, they don't have to fall into any preexisting category, just whatever feels right to you.
