Movies today are so contrived and phony that they're sickening. They have an obvious formula to appeal to the widest audience possible. A woman heroine, a black hero, wild ridiculous action featuring acrobatics that no one could ever do, and a plot with so many twists that it's confusing.

    Still some good festival stuff and independent releases though, and once you get used to lower budget content you actually begin to prefer it. It’s a shift in tone and production values basically.
