Not really cartoony stuffed animals, but lifelike stuffed animals. I suppose this would fall into the category of uncanny valley. I just feel like stuffed animals are a cheap replacement of the real thing and for some reason that's weird and sad to me.

Well, I see how someone could find them creepy. I've always loved stuff animals, but always hates dolls and thought they were creepy as fuck. So I understand. But I don't really think they are in any way a replacement of an actual animal lol. Unless its for a child. Like when I was a child, I really wanted a dog.. So I had all different dog stuffed animals that I would pretend were my dogs until I actually got one. But now that I'm older I would never even think of a stuffed animal as a pet lol.
Sounds pretty normal to me.
Everyone has that little thing that unsettles them, rational or not.
Your thinking does make a lot of sense, I feel a bit like that with some of them.
