They don't want to use actual teenagers to play the roles because they have to deal with child labor laws, and they would rather not.
Still, they could do a better job. Like have the part of a 16 year old played by an 18 year old instead of a 30 year old.
Although adult actors make it harder to suspend disbelief I would rather they played the roles than real teenagers be subjected to Hollywood.
I agree. I also hate how they make sex out to be so great. It’s fucking high school no one knows what they’re doing.
Why? They look the age. I'm in my 30s, when I went for a job interview at a high school students thought I was a new kid there.. because people under 30 typically look the same age as a teen half of the time.
Also the main reason they use adults more is because they don't want to interrupt a teen going to high school because acting will take them away from completing and graduating. Also legal issues. They can do much more when the person is an adult. It makes a lot of sense so I'm all for it.
Oh and another reason actually according to directors and writers is that their target audience is sometimes 16-35 so by getting an actor who is 25 let's say, they can get both gen z and millenials to watch the show.
Having 16 year olds has too many downfalls overall.
This is giving me flashbacks of when I was a kid that that stupid movie Grease was popular! 🙄
