Is it normal that i hate school but don't consider myself stupid?

For some reason I hate being told what to do without a good reason. I have plenty of my own intellectual challenges that I'm actually interested in, that result in something other than a grade or points. I just cannot blindly follow instructions.

    School's want to mold your thoughts into what they think is right. I never liked high school so I dropped out. Went to a school where you did the same work but you had to figure it out on your own(help was available if needed). My grades skyrocketed. I was a better teacher to myself than anyone else had ever been.
