Is it normal that i have pets i am allergic to?

I developed gradual pet allergies growing up. I had animals but around age 16 I noticed I was becoming allergic...I didn't have pets for a few years but I recently got a cat and a rabbit. I love my pets they make my life happier, but I have really bad allergies to them. I take a pill every 24 hours which helps but I still wake up with sinus problems and headaches . If I skip the pill I am sneezing and itchy and feel almost like I have asthma. People tell me I should get rid of them but I say no way!
How many of you are allergic to pets but have them anyway?

    I just wanted to say:

Thanks for all of the spaces after your post.
    And it's normal enough.

If people would tolerate other people like they tolerate their stupid pets, we wouldn't have so much broken families.

When I was growing up, I was allergic to pet dandruff and I had a long haired cat. Every now and then, she'd trigger something in my sinus that would set me off for the day. I probably still have that allergy as an adult. I have another cat is a short-hair. I don't think that she has ever set me off.
