Is it normal that i licked a table in public?

Heres why:
I did it to make a point to my germophobe friend. We were at Starbucks and he ordered a large size coffee for us to share. So I opened the coffee to pour some in my cup and incidentally took off the lid and put it on the table. he kind of freaked out saying now the lid is "contaminated" because it touched the table. I said who cares youre not going to put in in your mouth and he kept going on and on about how dirty the tables are. He said "would you lick this table?" and I said "yeah" so I stuck out my tongue and licked the table. Im still alive and I didn't get sick, was I being stupid or was he being stupid? btw the way people looked at me was priceless.
