Is it normal that i love my cat more than i want to go to my dream college?

There's this perfect college for me, but it's pretty far away from home. My cat brings me so much happiness that I don't want to leave him behind for a year (required to live in a dorm). Is this amount of attachment to a pet normal?

Of course it's normal. Leaving someone that you love and loves you back is hard. But you'll survive.

No it's not normal your entire life shouldn't revolve around your cat. Even if you were married to your soulmate you shouldn't avoid the college of your dreams to spend every minute with them. You can see them in the summer. Sounds like you could use some perspective. There are millions of cats euthanized in America every year because they don't have anyone who wants them.

He just makes me happy in a way nobody else does. The bond I think would be closest to that of a mother and child. I don't want to be away from him, but I probably will have to be if I do what is best for me.

Maybe you could attend your freshman year someplace near home then transfer and live in an apartment with your cat later. My sister lived in an apartment with her collie for most of her college career.

      postmanlover: ✔️✔️

Me: What should I say? What does that even mean? Maybe I should start a conversation about cats? .-.

Me: "Ahem! Do you have a cat, @postmanlover ?" c:

Oh! I couldn't figure out how to do your checkmarks! >///////>

I'd like to go to Texas Tech. It's the only college I've visited so far, but it was pretty great. Even my parents were impressed, and they've been to a couple with my older stepbrother. I'd like to major in social work, psychology, or education, specifically art education. I'm a high school senior, so things are speeding up pretty quickly.

Alessandro is a peaches and cream tabby Maine coon. He's almost a year old. My profile pic is an edited picture of him. He's not really that orange. I like to dress him up in bow ties and such. Alessandro is a pretty sweet cat. <3

There are some, but the demographics aren't what I'm looking for, the majors and programs aren't something I'm interested in, or they don't have a campus as well taken care of as the Texas Tech one. I'm still looking at them, so nothing is final as of this moment.

What about you? Are you still in high school? What do you do? Do you enjoy it?
