Is it normal that i love plucking hair from all sorts of places on my body?

I've never told anyone and I'll never let anyone find out, but one of my favorite pastimes is getting my tweezers and plucking hair from my legs, my eyebrows, my elbows, my (eh hem) privies, and my fingers.
It started 4 years ago when my addiction to plucking my eyebrows wasn't enough, so I started with my legs, then so on and so on.
I'll spend an hour at most just plucking away, and I always find it hard to stop. I've tried to figure out why I'm addicted, but I'm usually not stressed when I do it. I just think it's fun! I enjoy it! And also, I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so I always hated seeing and feeling stray hairs anywhere.
I really wish I could stop though, cause the hairs that get buried, I have to take them out with a needle or my fingernail, so this is leaving little marks on my legs and other places that look so bad! If i stopped long enough, they would go away but I can't seem to find the will power. I'm trying to cut back at least and try to do less damage and I've succeeded so far, but I catch myself sometimes still using my fingernail or a needle.
I'm also aware of all the time I waste on plucking every day, and I always have to give a believable explanation to my family as to why I spend so long in the bathroom. I can't stop though, and I'm always prepared with 2 tweezers. even if I lose them, I go into a frenzy to find them. My mom always has spares too, so what else can I do to stop or at least stop plucking so severely?

  • You sound like you have trichotillomania, an obsession with plucking hairs, I mildly have it myself, if there's a hair annoying me, I have to get it out.

I would talk to someone about it though and get help.

I have the same thing, but with my eyebrows.

To the OP, I think you should get some help, before you seriously damage yourself.
      Good Luck:)

I'm the same way. For years I was using tweezers and needles to remove hair from all over. But I also have a problem with ingrown hairs. Recently, I started getting laser hair removal. Lower legs and full Brazilian. It's taking care of those trouble areas.. but I still pluck and poke my shoulders, face, neck, chest, and upper legs.

Thanks for the comments everyone! I'm so glad I'm not the only one, and now I know what this obsession is called. I've gotten better recently and my legs don't look so marked up these days. If I stay busy, I don't have time to pluck, therefore my body starts to heal!

I have trichotillomania too. I pull from my scalp, my eyebrows, my eyelashes, and my pubic area. Ive had it my whole life. the urges to pull are really strong. It's a very controlling disorder. And it's more common than we realize.
