Is it normal that i'm afraid from studying medicine ??

Well, right now I have to decide what I want to study in the university, and I want to study medicine, cause I want to be a doctor since I was a child, but right now i'm a little worried from studying medicine cause I have a feeling that I will be disgusted when I see the human body from inside and I won't be able to get used to it, and that will make me lose interest in women and sex cause the image of the the human body from the inside will make me feel grossed.
Any advices ???

Why don't you consider becoming a his tic doctor, instead. In the holistic field, you don't have to directly deal with the inside of the body. Hijama (Wet cupping/bloodletting) you only come in contact with blood. You don't ever see the inside of the body.

You'll be dealing with diseased patients, post mortems etc etc
    Its hideous to think
But the status Doctor sounds respectable yet still

Yes, in my case I knew I wanted to be a doctor and I have the tolerance to all that stuff. So if u truly feel like doing it, don't hesitate. It will be difficult at first but you'll get used to it.

      Yeah, I agree.

If you bring great interest you're probably going to get used to it. At first you will be distgusted because you don't know the sights of blood, dead bodies or so but with the time you'll get experience and it'll be all good. Everywhere it's like that. Everwhere you have to make yourself familiar with the things you're dealing with.

First of all, decide if you have a genuine interest to study medicine. Secondly can you tolerate the sight of blood, torn flesh and dead bodies. If you want to test if it's gross for you go to websites of teaching hospitals and check out surgeries. If after that you think that you can handle the pressure of dealing with lives on a daily basis, just go for it. Not scaring you here, i'm also a medical student! Best of luck!

Since you are a medical student, did you think about this problem when you first decided to study medicine ??? Or you were very sure that you can handle that ??? see i'm not sure I can handle it but I maybe can get used to it, I don't think every medial student can handle it from the beginning right ????

I suggest you spend a day in a morgue in a big city. If you still feel the same way after a whole day at the morgue, watching autopsies, etc. then you will want to find another profession.

My point was that perhaps, as everyone who goes into medicine does, you will get used to it over the day and by evening, it won't bother you any more. You will not know, if you don't try, will you?

To be honest I don't know, sometimes I feel I can handle this and I'll get used to it and sometimes I feel I won't,i really want to be a doctor cause it's very helpful job and I want to help people and solve their problems and I also like the good reputation ,i know it need a lot of studying and I can handle that, but i'm just afraid that I won't enjoy life anymore because the horrible views I have to deal with everyday and i don't want to regret this choice in the future.

  • If you think it would bother you this much then I suggest you seek out a different profession. Doctors see and deal with some seriously nasty and scary crap everyday.
