Is it normal that i'm an atheist and i don't eat pork?

I was raised in a religious environment in which eating pork was seen as dirty or sinful. Even though I've left the faith and I now do things that I wouldn't ordinarily have done, I still don't feel comfortable eating pork. It just weirds me out for some reason - should I just eat it and try to get over it?

  • Religions say pork and shellfish are wrong because if they are not prepared correctly they can cause diseases. Back in the day before medical science was understood, people would get sick eating those things and blame it on God.

      Well said.
Another interesting observation is the burka was created to keep the females face pure and unharmed from the hot arab sun (and also privacy reasons when visiting men)

Sadly rational people weren't allowed be around when it became a religious ritual. But if they were around the first thing they'd say is, um you don't need to wear them inside or at the shops :) Or really anytime any more!
