Is it normal that i'm glad the afghanistan war is over, no matter what?

The whole thing was a failure from the getgo and only a cash cow for war profiteers. A waste of money and more sadly, lives. Im just glad we're out.

It wasn't a failure when you ask yourself-"When was the last time we were attacked at home by Islamic terrorists?"

PS- It's not over just because we decided to leave.

2 brothers, a husband & wife, and lone wolf attacks. Not quite up there with the organized efforts of a 1993 World trade Center bombing or 9/11.

The lone wolf attacks are the most dangerous because you dont see it coming

        • So? Are the lives lost any less significant? And the 9/11 attacks were failures of intelligence, unrelated to ground operations in Afghanistan. All the attackers were Saudis.

Imagine how many more would have died if al-Qaeda were allowed to plot more large attacks on the US from Afghanistan.
Afghanistan was the adoptive home of Saudi-born Osama Bin Laden, founder of al Queada and mastermind of the 9/11 attacks. al-Quaeda was responsible for 9/11 and many other mass-casualty attacks around the world.

            • You’ve bought into the war hawk narrative. The attacks were prevented because of the establishment of the Department of Homeland Security and better coordination of the intelligence community. The war was a complete waste of lives and money.

  • american presence in the ME and surrounding regions proved to be an excellent recruitment tool for terrorists in such regions, there was no way that we were ever going to establish a functioning govt in afghanistan due to the crisis of legitimacy that an america/arab backed puppet govt in said nation suffered from, we were at war with an ideology and not any specific entities making permanent victory of any kind unlikely, and any person who claims to have ever given a shit about "women's rights" or what the fuk ever can try doing more of that in their own neck of the woods for a change instead of cynically using it to score a cheap victory over some libturds or whatever (also - if you're so goddamned concerned about terrorists - worry about the assholes in your own country who are busy committing vile, racist shootings at least once a month it seems)...

PS i love that you've got people talking about how hard it is for women in these nations justifies eternal american presence in these regions; prey tell, what do you think they'd say about refugees of any sort coming over?
