Is it normal that i'm literally addicted to music?

Hi! So recently I've noticed something pretty damn weird.
My time being awake pretty much equals time spent listening to something a way or another, it became a habit to always have something playing (my ears feel weird without something in / over them, lol). (90% of the stuff I listen to is techno and some house so it's pretty atmospheric)
Anyways, I've noticed that when I don't have a track playing I'm feeling down and have a lot less energy, bad mood overall, just can't stand too much silence.
When listening to music is impossible (e.g. uni / tasks that require full concentration) it's a little better.
Am I broken or what the fuck?

PS: Trying not to seem like I'm trying to brag about how interesting and hip I am because "I'm addicted 2 music!! lolzzz im such a NERD XDDD". I ain't about that life.

It's because music stimulates the dopamine reward system in our brains. It always has, but the music industry has advanced in a lot of ways. They are aware of the fact that music stimulates the reward system, and they've even figured out how to make rhythms and songs that play on that part of the brain more efficiently. That's why mostly all you see coming out of the industry now is vacuous pop bullshit that has no soul. They don't need people with talent if they can just scientifically come up with music that makes people feel good. I would try to stop listening to so much music if I were you. No offense, but the people I know who can't stop listening to music constantly are amongst the dumbest and most simple minded. Listening to so much music is bad for your brain just like any other drug. I think I might of said music in every fucking sentence haha. I'm really tired, I don't feel like fixing it. Anyway, you get the idea. Do some research on it.

I heard it's the same thing with the food industry that they have scientifically figured out how stimulate people's taste buds without having an overwhelming flavor, and this makes people want to consume foods in greater quantities, and is a big factor contributing to obesity.

I've never listened to anything but pure electronic (techno, house, garage, not that commercial bullshit with a 4-kicks pattern and some forced vocals) and some old-school hip-hop, so no pop shit for me, I totally get what you're saying tho.

I barely listen to music at all. It gets boring after a couple of minutes. Same goes with food. It's all bland to me, and nothing impresses me, ever.

Do you think something could be bothering you, so you're avoiding your own thoughts?
I think you'll grow out of it eventually.

    BTW, <3 HOUSE & TECHNO

I can't speak for you, but I know that I listen to music for hours whenever I don't want to be alone with my thoughts. The music drowns out my thoughts so I don't have to deal with the ones that might be uncomfortable or even frightening or sad.

Would you say you feel the same?

Nah, I do this even when I'm not troubled by anything at all. I've never actually had to deal with this kind of problem, fortunately.

I know a girl like you. She wakes up listening to music, goes to social outings with one earbud in , and goes to bed the same way.
