Is it normal that i'm physically stronger when i'm overweight?

Over the past years, I've been both normal weight and overweight, even slightly obese, and for some reason, I always feel like I'm physically stronger when I'm fatter, despite not working out.

Were you still exercising before you became overweight? If you were eating a lot of calories and working out, you will generally gain muscle along with the fat. That could be why.

Overweight people have their bodies work more just to lift itself like walking, and you also have more weight which adds more force. It makes sense. Depending how you lose weight you could also be losing some muscle from that. Either way I think its better to stay in a healthy weight range for better health. And if you want to be stronger then do strength exercises and make sure to eat enough proteins and overall calories to actually build muscle

You could also have accumulated muscle to compensate for the added fat.
