Is it normal that i'm sick of people bitching about "anti-social technology"?

I'm happy with how technology has changed society, I'll admit it. I'm very unsocial. I just pretend I'm preoccupied with my tablet so people will leave me alone on the bus or whereever. In the past, I would have had to live in a cabin in the middle of nowhere to be happy. Now I can choose whether to be social or not. Why do you hate freedom and choice? I honestly think you don't want me to exist. You want me to value everything you value, but I dont, and that scares you. Your heaven is my hell. I repeat, why do you hate choice and freedom? Why can't we choose to be unsocial? If you don't like tech, don't fucking use it! If you want to talk to people all day, fucking talk to people all day, but don't complain about people who happen to be different than you. I was reading comments on this article about a way you could order groceries from a screen at the subway and they'd be delivered to your house. THAT IS USEFUL, I WOULD LOVE THAT! People bitched because they go grocery shopping for the social experience, apparently. They think they should be able to dictate that the tech shouldn't be available. Fuck that, this is America! The land of the free! They'll probably try to make cybernetics illegal too over some sentimental bullshit. But this post isn't about that. This post is about the delusion that you have to right to force other's to be social. Just because I'm physically human doesn't mean I have to talk to you hypocrites if I don't want to! And if you find this post sad, go tell it to Doctor Phil because your opinion doesn't mean jack shit to me if you're going to call me sad.

I do think people are becoming more disengaged/detached with the world. It's a funny thing, because they're being very social online, but that is faceless communication.
Call me old school, but I miss the art of face to face conversation. It is increasingly harder to have those conversations, as people are growing more and more distracted/preoccupied with their phones and the online world.

I try and be optimistic about technological social changes and I try to adapt to it as best I can, after all, that's progress. I'm sure people back in the day felt the same apprehension about the introduction of television and radio.

I'm really interested to see where we will be as a society in 15 years time. I really hope social communication technology brings about some universal brotherhood but I am sceptical, simply because of how it can be exploited and misused by government and law authorities.

Technology doesn't change people, you are that way from childhood.

I don't care much for socializing with people when I go to the supermarket. I'm just there for some food and stuff. People just get in my way, lol. Then again, I'm a single guy in my 20's so that is self-explanatory I think.

I get what you're saying though. I tend to agree. Being a loner can be a very selfish lifestyle though.

    • If I'm not hurting people, then how is it so bad to be selfish?

I am just letting you know. If you are aware, then that is your choice.
