Is it normal that i'm terrified to go to the gyno?

I'm 20 and my doctor says I need to go to a gyno, but I'm terrified. I was sexually abused as a kid, and I just can't do it. It's too scary. Too vulnerable.

    Yes, totally normal, but if you haven't already had therapy for the child sexual abuse maybe it's time to do so. If your doctor says you need to see a gyno there must be some problem which needs checking out.

    I know it may be scary to even think about counselling but please take the plunge and at least find a sexual assault crisis line where you can talk over the phone to someone. They may be able to refer you to a gyno who is sensitive to survivors of childhood sexual abuse.

    I wish you well: please believe me that the sooner you deal with your past the sooner you'll be able to move on. I speak from personal experience: by the time I sought help I'd been affected for decades and it's harder to deal with it the longer it's postponed.

    I'll be thinking of you and hoping you can find the right support for you.

      This.
      @OP:
      Not being able to get essential medical care (and as a woman, whether or not you're sexually active is irrelevant in this department) is absolutely an issue. You can't avoid this forever, you're letting a possibly fixable issue go unaddressed and you can't let it go so far as to keep you from getting medical care. I am having a similar issue, I let a nerve injury go unaddressed for 2 years for similar reasons and I'm suffering greatly now as a result. Please get help.
