Is it normal that i'm younger than everyone i work with?

Most of my work associates are middle age and have children who are close to my age. I get along with them better and it's easier to socialize with the more mature group....but I tend to feel a bit weird when I meet their children in my age group. The only people who have worked here who were younger than me were a couple guys and a couple Mexican girls, but only for a few months. I don't mind going against the grain, but sometimes I wonder if I'm just hiding out from my peer group. But then again, I know I just wouldn't be as happy if I were to be doing retail/customer service/waitressing etc...

It's normal. You're at work to make money (and do what you enjoy if you're lucky), right? You're not hiding out from people your age, you're working for a living :P It sounds like you may have a better job than your peers too if they're waiters or working in retail, especially if you managed to get a job that manages to keep older employees... Maybe you have a job that has good benefits and older people who get the job are holding onto it?
