Is it normal that i only recently bought a smartphone, but not for social stuff

I bought one just because my Nokia 3210's battery died after 16 years (1999) and everybody around be was demanding of me to buy a modern mobile telephone.

Now that I do have one it is only used for SSH (90's network terminal protocol) and a phone call every 2 weeks (which Nokia's do best).

Did I, or did I not waste my money?

and yes, my email is being handled just fine by my computer.

Probably normal, but also maybe a waste of money.
I just use a normal phone for infrequent calls and texts, so I don't see the point.

Perhaps you should have bought a cheaper phone with less features and an unlimited plan with a very low monthly bill?

It's a waste of money if you don't use it. But smart phones have plenty of abilities that come in handy from time to time.

I had been using a Nokia 1100 for years. I bought my first smartphone on Oct 2014, a Galaxy S5 that I rarely use.

I understand. I see no reason to use a phone for everything...just use it as a phone. I never use my phone for anything except checking the time and phone calls!

Your lying. Nokia is indestructible. The only reason it isn't used in the military is because the United Nations said it was "to OP".
