Is it normal that i prefer movies from the 70s-80s over modern movies?
I think movies, generally speaking, were better back then than they are now. They just had more character somehow, more depth. And the actors were generally better.

First I would like to say Art is subjective. Second, bad movies were also made in the 70's and 80's. We mostly remember the good ones. The different between now and then is we're oversaturated with terrible new movies, quantity over quality.
Just because a movie is bad doesn't mean you can't get a good laugh.Unless it legit sucks.
I don't know what it is, but somehow movies today don't seem as sincere as movies from back then. Like there's this subtle background sense of sarcasm and cynicism in movies nowadays, at least for certain movies anyway. Maybe it's just me though.
Some of them are trash though there are low number of ones that are considered good.
Yes, there was an art to filmmaking back then. Special effects took a lot of effort and ingenuity without the help of CGI.
Same amount of good and bad in every decade, just like music.
You’re just watching the wrong movies.
modern movies are all remakes of 70s-80s movies or some superhero nonsense anyway
I agree. I remember the 90s too every movie would have like 200 FBI agents.
Same. Earlier movies too, 40s-early 2000s had the best movies in my opinion. Nowadays it's all so bad, the actors that are the most used in movies nowadays are so basic and no storyline is original.
I watched Rear Window last week and came to think of how many modern movies just shamelessly copy that one...
