Is it normal that i seem to be addicted to sour/acidic things?

I've never been one to crave bland, starchy things, but lately I've noticed that I've been bothered by cravings for tart or tangy things. Everything I eat I find isn't acidic enough. If something has cheese in it, I want it to be tangier. If I have a salad, I want the dressing to be extremely sour. I add lemon juice or white vinegar to EVERYTHING! I find all processed food really bland and tasteless. If I ever drink soda, I HAVE to add lemon juice. I eat mostly unripe fruit. Even already acidic things like tomato sauce or tomato soup, I have to add tons of vinegar to. Sometimes I even just drink a little white vinegar or lemon to make the cravings stop.

I've heard of people being addicted to sugar, capsaicin (active ingredient in chili peppers), carbs, etc., but not to acid. I asked my doctor if it could be some kind of deficiency, but he didn't think so. I mean, it's not that bad of a problem, but this "need" I seem to have worries me. Especially since I've only had it for about ten months or so. IIN?

Oh my god I know how you feel!! I'm in love with salt and vinegar chips, I add about 1-2 lemons to make foods taste better. I LOVE SOUR THINGS! I could take shots of vinegar and lemonade and be totally fine. They just taste amazing!!

    • I only get acid reflux about twice a year. I read once that a deficiency of acid in the stomach can cause or worsen acid reflux because your stomach has to churn a lot more to digest food with the little acid it does have. That churning causes the acid to splash up into the oesophagus. Someone told me to drink a little vinegar when I had acid reflux once, and I had it bad that time. It worked almost instantaneously. I think most people would be reluctant to try it, but would be remissed not to. I think for people who don't have an acidic diet regularly, and who ingest a lot of acid in a short time when the stomach isn't used to it, it might be a problem as well, though.

Most processed food is highly acidic. How are your taste buds? I love vinegar but it burns after a while.
