Is it normal that i think dubai looks like a terrible place?

Yeah, Dubai has got the grandest buildings, biggest malls, the biggest of everything. But that city seriously lacks soul, it just doesn't have any substance to it, and you can't really do anything because everything is prohibited by Sharia law. You can't even kiss your partner in public. If you're homosexual, you're not even getting in the country. Nah, that place and it's citizens can go fuck themselves.

    I have spent a bit of time there. Only the odd weekend, usually on the way to or from a work contract to break up the journey. It was never my final destination.

    It absolutely sucked ass. It's quite a scary place to be a woman, especially if you are alone. And I'm not a wuss - I've travelled all over the world and seen some shit. I can look after myself. Still, nothing compares to the insidious sense of oppression you feel walking the streets of Dubai alone. I was afraid of being arrested for some sort of ridiculous perceived slight, and ending up rotting away in a cell somewhere, unable to get home. They have "security" guards pretty much everywhere. It's like a gigantic, extremely fancy prison.

    What I will say is the service is incredible. You really do feel like royalty if you go to a restaurant, hotel etc. They basically act like actual servants for their patrons. There is an expectation that you will tip very generously in return, but they definitely earn the big tips.

        Yes but its probably the best place for a non muslim to visit in the middle east. Their drinkin laws are decent
