Seems like every game nowadays has to have a strong female protagonist in it. I think that's pretty annoying. Why? Because it becomes too obvious that they're pushing a feminist agenda and I don't like that. Politics and games should be kept separate, IMO.
What's wrong with strong female protagonists? I enjoy seeing multi-faceted and well written protagonists who happen to be women. Where are you getting every from, either? Women make up half of the female population and that still isn't very well represented in games.
I simply disagree with you considering your last statement. Games are a form of art and art is shaped by our environment - including politics. Some of the best films and literary works of human history have been influenced by politics and art is a beautiful way of portraying ideologies. Wanting some form to go away just because you disagree with it is childish.
I don't really mind strong female characters in games as long as the game is good. The problem with a lot of feminists is that they don't understand that most people who play video games don't care about the gender of the protagonist as long as it's a fun game. I've been playing video games since I was about 5 years old ( when I say that I mean rated M games not child educational games, my mom was awesome) and I never once looked at a game and said I wasn't going to play it just because it had a female protagonist. One of my favorite games growing up was Beyond Good and Evil and that had a female protagonist. I care much more about whether or not a game has a good story and/or gameplay mechanics than I do about whether or not the person I play as is male or female.
No, you sound pretty narrow-minded about this. I kind of like seeing more female protagonists in games. As long as they're not shoe-horned in, what's the problem? I can come up with several examples of great games that couldn't have been any better with a male protagonist.

So when you say you want politics and games to be separate, what you really mean is you only want to see YOUR politics in games.
I’m all for representation in all types of media but if it ruins the immersion of the game then it’s not worth having the representation.

They're actually ruining gaming in much worse ways.
The feminist game protagonists are not only female, they're also very stupid, annoying and unattractive. They're like Mary Sues, except not that pretty.
And meanwhile, the female characters that aren't feminists are called "sexist characters" or something like that.
Many SJWs also believe that non-feminist characters are "Born Sexy Yesterday" characters or something like that.
It depends how it’s done, if you’re marketing an “authentic” war game which focusses on a set time period for instance both world wars, then it’s ridiculous to have a female protagonist unless it fits into the setting eg a potential Russian sniper or a rebel, however I don’t mind female protagonists like Lara Croft or arguably some of the characters from Gears of war, I mean Anya and Sam aren’t exactly protagonists but they don’t ruin it for me
Female characters have never affected my enjoyment of games. Annoying characters and poorly acted voiceovers have had a much worse effect.
you’re childish. compared to how many games there are with a male protagonist there is almost no games with female protagonists.
Quite the opposite in my opinion. Don't really care about a character's gender, but gaming is easier to talk about in decent company now that there's less excessive fanservice.
