Is it normal that i think lip fillers are horrendously ugly?

Many women nowadays have fillers in their lips. I think it makes them look incredibly, disgustingly ugly. Why the hell would anyone want to look like a fucking duck? This trend needs to die!

  • On average they look horrendous but I have seen one or two, an amount I can count on one hand that actually suit it. Maybe the majority of the women that get it see these few women it works for and think it'll work for them? Not a gamble I'd make if I was a woman.

      The Toupée Fallacy...

"The toupée fallacy is an informal logical fallacy regarding silent evidence and the problem of induction. It is a type of selection bias (and of survivorship bias) that is most readily summed up by the following phrase:

“All toupées look fake; I've never seen one that I couldn't tell was fake."

It should be obvious that such a phrase can only be said about bad toupées — ones that look fake — and not actually all toupées. If the person uttering this phrase saw a convincing toupée, they wouldn't have noticed it at all! Hence it is a fallacy to draw such a conclusion from a horrendously limited evidence base.

If you google before and afters of lip injections, the vast majority look good. I'm not sure how you'd even know if a woman had lip injections unless 1. They were bad/overdone/botched/extreme, or 2. She told you she had them/you're familiar enough with her to notice. The ones that look good pass you right by and you never even know it.

      • The OP referred to the women doing this as "looking like ducks" which implies he's referring to women with lip fillers that are abnormally large. Women with abnormally large lips from lip fillers are not the same group of people you're referring to with The Toupée Fallacy as the ones you're referring to can give impression of having a natural looking set of lips as opposed to the women the OP is referring to that get abnormally sized lips that "look like a fucking duck" and therefor cannot mistakenly be confused as having natural lips like the group you have in mind with The Toupée Fallacy.

I get where you're coming from, though.

I think it can look good if done discreetly. If someone has very thin lips it makes sense wanting them a little bigger but I don't understand the trend of enormous ducklips.

I don't get the overdone blowup doll look, but the vast majority don't look like that. There's lots of people who have thin lips and injections really help. Its not always "I've got normal lips, but I want bigger, or HUGE, lips". A lot of the time its people with thin or deflated lips the just want -visible- or less wrinkly lips. It works fine for that.

Lip fillers are supposed to be used to plump up older women's lips that got flat and wrinkly with age. Are you saying young people with no lip problems are doing it now? That's kind of dumb to waste money on something like that if you're young.

    • Yes. Lots of young women do it nowadays, I can see it wherever I look.

I really don't understand why they'd do it at a young age. Isn't that kind of lying about their appearance in a way?

        • Yes it is. However, could be argued that makeup is too.

Trying to figure out the answer to that myself...

A lot of younger women in Bulgaria resort to this, believing men want a woman with fish lips...
I see nothing wrong with a woman having thinner lips.

I looked up the price, and it seems like such a waste of money to get these temporary fillers. In my neck of the woods the price greatly ranges from 500 bucks to 1,500. XD

Some people are just born with thin to nearly invisible lips.

I always thought of lip fillers as a way to poof up thin lips. I have naturally full lips, and when I was young some kids used to call me a racist slur to make fun of my lips. I was so happy when full lips started to really get in style a few years back. Honestly, Molly Ringwald saved me, because her popularity as a teen actress made people suddenly start seeing my big lips as good thing, and an attractive feature. In a way when I see women with collagen lips it validates me, and makes feel good knowing that this person thinks large, full lips are beautiful.
