I generally don't like rap, but I respect it when it's good. The rhyme schemes can get super complicated, and layered meanings/skillful flow is definitely not "easy" to do right.
Howabout you try writing a legendary rap song before calling it talentless.
There's a vast history behind every big genre of music, and you look close-minded when you measure all songs of a given genre just by what's popular nowadays.
Sure there are rappers who make rapping seem that way. But rappers like Eminem, for example, are 'Rap Gold'.. and rap music is not one of my preferred music genres by any measure.
I'm not a fan of rap but I respect the fast rhyming as someone who has poor auditory processing to begin with.
I can't stand most rap because they invent fake words to rhyme with and their lyrics make little sense and sound like a kindergartener.
Seriously like "I'm gonna squeeze my knees for this breeze in my cheese, wanna kiss the ladies feeling kinda jadies. Sharks attack my man Earl is whack. Gonna have some bologna because I'm not phony.."
The lyricists are far more impressive. If a rapper doesnt write his own shit and has a ghost writer he doesnt have much talent. But a rapper like immortal technique who have peotic lyrics is talented.
I agree rap has literally gone into the shitter. Theres some rappers alive that still have skills but they're getting really old.
