Is it normal that i try to keep one hand clean whenever i handle/prepare food?
I'm a bit of a germaphobe and always wash my hands whenever I get the chance to.

That's a great practice. It greatly helps in preventing cross contamination
I'm the same when I have to touch or cut raw meat. I love meat, I'm a real carnivore and there are very few veggies I eat so when I'm preparing for instance a chicken lasagne (which by the way is a lot healthier and lower in calories than beef lasagne) and have to cut the raw chicken into appropriate sizes for going into the lasagne, I find I get really grossed out by the slimey cold feeling of the raw chicken. I get through it as quickly as I can and immediately wash my hands afterwords. Its not so bad though, because I'm used to touching filthy things when I'm doing household chores during the day. Washing dishes that have food stuck to them, cleaning the slimey piece of the bath where the bar of soap is kept, sweeping up the dust and hair on the floor, I'm used to that kind of thing.
