Is it normal that i want to be a singer but...

...hate singing in front of family and friends? It's not that I'm a bad singer at all, but sometimes my parents try to pressurise me into singing and I just refuse to do it.
Basically the plan is that when I go to uni I get a band together and we start jamming, starting with covers and then producing original content.
But does my unwillingness to sing in front of loved ones foretell bad things for my future as a singer?

No, you're just nervous. If I had to choose, I'd rather sing in front of a stranger than a person I know. It's weird, but I know what you're talking about.

Keep singing and you'll be able to perform in front of anyone soon enough. :)

I was really hoping for something good on this one, like "I want to be a singer but I'm a reptile and don't have a very good range, all I can do is screech," but instead we get, "I want to be a singer, but I'm sooooo shy," you people are your mundane questions and equally mundane lives. It would be sad if it wasn't... never mind, it's just sad.

Bitchy much??? How could you put someone down when you haven't even heard their voice yet. If you read their fucking statement you would know. Their parents and friends want them to sing to them. This means that they actually have a good voice. This means the potential of becoming a singer is a good idea. This means that if they decide yes then they cold become a successful singer and reach out to the hearts of many. When a singer reaches to your heart I hope they grab it within their fist and squeeze it till your poor heart is wrenching in pain and your begging for forgiveness regarding your shallow opinion asshole.

Not really, it seems like you think their opinion matters more to you than anyone else's, which makes sense in a way.

It doesn't really matter if you're able to perform in front of others, though.

I've often wondered the same thing. I feel like the only way I can grow is to have the confidence to sing in front of others especially the people I'm afraid will make fun of me.
