Is it normal to want to go off on my co-worker who sits across from me and won't shut up? Our dept. is an open one with 5 desks side by side, in rows of 3. We work on computers, so everything has to be pretty quiet most of the time. All day long this person talks on the company line to family, about family and personal issues...cussing left and right. This person also pops gum and eats pork cracklins everyday. Who does this in a quiet work environment?? It's so rude. I get tired of wearing my headphones to drown out all the noise. Ugh!!

    I understand your frustration but getting mad probably won't help. Have you tried talking to him politely? Ask him to be more considerate.
    If that doesen't help you should talk to your boss (if you have one). Because if he doesen't get any work done and keeps everyone else from working ... Well, you can imagine where this is going.

    haha...I wish we could get a video! It's a she and her best friend sits beside her. He tells her all the time to stop and she will for about 2 minutes. UGH. The problem about her getting her work done is, she always does. I don't know how, but she manages somehow. I have thought about telling our boss but honestly, I don't think it would do any good. She already had one boss tell her to stop taking personal calls at work and that worked for about 2 weeks. After that, no one has said anything else to her. No one else seems to care, but they don't sit across from her. I'm afraid it will come back and bite me on my ass if I do complain because she is a loud mouth know it all. Maybe that's why no one else will complain...

    Have you and a couple other co-workers take a video of her at different times. Send it to your boss so she can get fired for not doing her job.
