Is it normal that i want to work in the medical field after breaking my ankle?

I broke my ankle playing football in highschool. Ever since then I have wanted a career in the medical field. Specifically a physician assistant. Working in the medical field never even crossed my mind until this happened. is it normal to want to do this? Is it a good idea?
