Is it normal that my 21-year-old roommate is terrified of the dark?

She gets so scared at night, even with a nightlight. We keep getting really bad storms, and I'm worried about her if the power goes out. I want to comfort her, but I don't know how to without being awkward, because I'm a guy and she's a girl.

I'm 19 and I STILL sleep with a night light when my roommate's not back by the time I go to bed. It's just a low-light LED, but it helps me see when I get up to use the bathroom, and makes me feel safer if I hear something weird. I think a lot of kids our age still use night lights, but no one usually admits it.

stuffed animals and real animals help.also ambien and soothing music. My little sister is 32 almost 33 and is afraid of the dark. Her apartment got busted into a couple years ago and she kind of never got over it.
