Is it normal that my boyfriend shampoos his beard?

He has a goatee of curly, coarse hair, about 1 1/2 inches long when pulled straight. He shampoos it when he washes. Is this normal?

    Its normal. I know guys and girls who shampoo and condition their pubic hair and in one case her armpit hair.
