Is it normal that my cat never hisses?

I adopted her when she was about 3. She was originally found in the woods wounded and was going to be put down because she was antisocial. I got her from a rescue home where there were a bunch of crazy animals and she immediately purred when I took her home. Sometimes I kick her (not an abusive kick, more like a shove really) for doing something stupid, but she'll never hiss at humans. However, she'll hiss at other animals. I just think it's weird after owning an angry cat (RIP) that this one is so lovable.

    I've had my cat for 3 years now and he's literally never hissed, not even at another animal. In fact, the angriest he ever gets is when he bites the couch. Aw I gotta give him a quick squeeze lol :)

    My wife had a cat once. The annoying little creep kept jumping up on our breakfast table. I'd yell at it and it would hiss at me before jumping off. One morning that hissing sound caused me to totally flip the fuck out. I gathered it up and threw it out our 5th floor apartment window. Broke two of it's legs and had massive internal injuries. The vet put it to sleep. I've told this story before on this site. I'm telling it again to let you know that a lot of people can't stand cats and that hissing noise they make. I hope this true story annoys you. Sleep well tonight.

      thegypsysailor. You said you never lived in a house as an adult. Yet you lived in a 5th story apt and shared a big house as a college student? OK sure.

    She's biding her time and plotting to get even for those kicks: one night you'll wake up to find her hissing in your face and then clawing you to death and it will serve you right.

    Who's the stupid one here? There's no such thing as a non-abusive kick!

      Maybe her floor poop is her hissing. ..
