Is it normal that my cats only wants to be petted when i am on the toilet?

i have two cats and neither of them want pats unless i am sitting on the toilet. they follow me into the WC and sit at my feet and purr until i pat them. is this normal cat behaviour? does anyone know why cats do this? also the older cat likes to sit on the edge of the bath when i have a bubble bath and just watches me. it makes me nervous that she could slip in and cut my legs open trying to get out. normal or not?

  • Sometimes I bring my dog in the bathroom when I poop, he probably doesnt like the smell at all as it makes even me gag and he has a much better sense of smell, but he doesnt have a choice, I control when he gets fed. Bwahahahahaha

Okay, aside from all of these other people that don't help at all, I will tell you that my cats do the exact same thing to me. Not sure why, but as far as I know its normal.

My cats do the same thing. A bunch of people I used to work with also had cats that did the same thing. One of them said she thinks it's cuz the cats know they have a captive audience for a bit, that's why they love being in there with us! It actually makes sense! Think about it, Cats just love to cuddle and sit with you (at least some do), and when you're on the toilet, they know you're not going anywhere for a bit, so you can give them attention. Also, usually people are bored on the toilet too, so you're likely to give them much more attention than you usually do!

My cat also watches me take baths too! I think it's the sweetest thing! Mine sits on the toilet tho--which is next to the tub. Maybe if you can put a towel there for ur kitty to get comfy on, she'll sit there rather than the edge of the tub?

LOL mine will try to jump on my lap while I'm on the toilet. That's a big no. She well sit on the edge of the tub and then freaks out when her tail gets wet lol. I think it's normal.

Ahhahaha, we have a cat that does the same thing! The second he hears me coming up the stairs, he'll run into the bathroom and sit in the sink until I go in.
Once I'm actually seated on the toilet, he'll jump on my lap and just let me pet him. He LOVES being on people's laps when they're takin care of business.

My cats always loved to walk along the tub... Just not be in it when there's water. They will also lay in the tub after its drained, because the porcelain is warm. One loved drinking from a dripping spigot. Being weird is totally normal, typical cat behavior.

Do you ever sit upright and still and quietly with nothing else to do anytime other than using the toilet?

You know...? I had a cat that drank from the toilet.

Haha, that sounds funny. Maybe it's because they know you are vulnerable at that time XD

What's the frigging cat doing in the bathroom when you're on the toilet? Shut the fucking bathroom door, Dumbass!

With cats, the less interest you show in them, the more likely they are to want your attention. This is why cats tend to flock to humans who "aren't cat people", because they will ignore the cat, whereas those who like cats are often reaching for them, trying to pet or hold them and generally being annoying (to a cat, at least). Every individual is different, of course, but you'll find far more who will warm up to you ten times faster if you're trying to focus on something else, than on them. So, yes, demanding attention while you're trying to have a private moment on the toilet is perfectly normal. If it bugs you (and perhaps if it doesn't), this could be easily solved by SHUTTING THE DOOR WHILE YOU TAKE A DUMP. 8/

    • wow being captain obvious in caps.... i have a cat flap in my toilet door because it leads into the laundry where i keep the cat little tray so SHUTTING THE DOOR DOESNT MAKE A DIFFERENCE, DONT YOU THINK I WOULD HAVE ALREADY THOUGHT OF THAT?
