Is it normal that my chihuahua's eyes are always watery?

So we found a stray chihuahua and we've had him for about 3 years, although we haven't been able to determine his age. But I've noticed that his eyes are very large and are like always wet with gunk around them. Is that normal? Is it because his eyes are really big? Thanks for any advice

He might have small dog tear disease. It stains the face with teary gunk pretty horribly, but it is usually not harmful.

I've heard it's related to the anxieties of being a small dog. Good luck with your animal, and if you're concerned, go to a vet for a checkup.

He could be allergic to his food or something else.

Well I had a Chihuahua named buddy. He lived to be like 11 or 12 but he always had wet stuff around his eyes it stained only a little it was brownish red I guess but it never hurt him and plus his eyes were like the size of Jupiter but that's what I think caused his eyes to water I don't know but most Chihuahuas I see have that and I think its just normal and to be totally honest we cant afford vets and stuff like that but all our animals are perfectly fine with our care. And P.S. He died from a big dog no disease from not being able to take him to the vet when this happens we still take them its just really pricy. I think if you do they give you eye drops but idk

If his eyes are just wet with tears then yes it is normal. cause of the way their eyes are shaped their tears just flow out and cause tear stains. U can take a warm cloth and gently clean their eyes. But if their is gunk he need to go to a vet to get treatment.. also if i was u i would look up grooming for Chihuahuas they might be small but need a lot more care then people might think. i hope that helps

It's a question to b asked here, we are no vets. I'd suggest you show him to a vet. Possible reasons might be - eye infection, foreign body, blockage of nasolacrimal glands that connect lacrimal. Glands to inner nose. I am a human doctor (I can't put it better :p) so can't tell exactly as it's not my area of expertise

Take him to a vet. We're not experts.
