Is it normal that my daughter hasn't started her period yet?

Hi there. My daughter is 14, and I'm quite worried about her puberty status. She hasn't started her period yet, even though I started mine when I was 13. She is soon to turn 15, and we are English. Please help!

I didn't start mine until shortly after 15, so yeah it's normal.

I checked the periodic charts and have found that English females don't start their periods till the second week of July after their 15th birthday.

You know, I am of English descent and I did start my period in July. Although, it was the first week (which I'll blame on the Italian) and I was 12 (which I'll blame on being American). You're on to something. =P

I have again consulted the periodic chart and unfortunately it threw me off when your forefathers crossed the atlantic.

I might need to pull out the crystal ball for this... :P

Ah yes. Well, they did certainty trifle with the order of things when they swam over here. The America's require more research. *Opens a book with a magazine hidden in it*

The wonderful thing about our boby, is they are our own, and it can work differently than another, without it being a health issue. I'm not a women, but i'm sure most women would've loved having their first start late. Be greatful, and get some pads ready.

I'm jealous. I got mine when I was 11 and it freakin sucks! It is normal though, she will get it soon enough! There are some women that don't even get it until they're 17-18! I consider them the lucky ones.

A factor that might affect it could be her weight. Is she over or under weight? If so, that could be preventing her body from kick starting it. If she doesn't get it soon, you may consult a doctor if you wish. However, the age of menstruation varies with every woman.

It's perfectly normal that she hasn't started! Girls generally start from the age of 8-15.
It's typically recommended to visit a doctor if a girl hasn't started by 15, then again I know some women who didn't start until 17-18.

Every girl is different, however your daughter IS late in starting it has to be said. I would have a chat at the doctor, there could be some small problem, best to check it out. I started at 11 and went on till I was 52 ....:( . Try not to worry but see your doctor or nurse to feel settled in yourself. Good luck x

The normal age for starting is between 8 and 16 so it isn't abnormal.

She's probably just a "late bloomer" as they call them. If you're truly worried, I'd recommend going to the doctor.

I started mine at the age of 10.

Normal. She's fine. But if you don't believe me, maybe ask a mechanic. They can be very helpful.

It's normal for her not to get it yet. I knew people that didn't get theirs until their senior year of highshool.

I didn't know that language had anything to do with periods.
You learn something new every day

English? (had to read it again myself)

Well (to the OP) THAT's the reason then, you better learn another language, by the time you are fluent in it her period will come ;)

I think they need to change everything.

Language, location, race, heritage and who knows what else.
