Is it normal that my dog takes tissues out of the trash can and eats them?

At my house we have two bathrooms, each with a trash can, and two of the bedrooms have trash cans. My dog will do anything to get into those trash cans and eat all the tissues. Sometimes he just rips them up into pieces and other times he eats them whole. He also does this with pads and tampons. We try to keep all the doors shut, but it can be difficult at times and I don't like having to close EVERY door in the house! Anyone know why he's doing this or how to make him stop?!

It is normal but you really should train your dog not to do this.

Dogs will eat anything. I'd try putting the trash can in the cupboard under the sink (if you have one).

Our puppy loves paper and toilet paper, shreds it, plays with it and leaves bits all over the house. Annoying but normal. We have to make sure the doors are shut too

my sweet lil brat of a dog does this too. she loves digging out tissues, pads and q-tips from the trash. she doesnt eat them; she just shreds them. we bought a can with a lid but it didn't work. we had to learn to make sure the bathroom door is closed or the trash can is emptied every morning.
