Is it normal that my feet get blisters after hours of walking and walking back?

Yesterday I went walking 3 miles and I walked back and my feet feels a bit painful after walking a lot but I did feel satisfied about burning out some calories though I have to admit it.

So is it normal or not normal?

Proper shoes and socks (and even multiple layers of socks) should solve the problem. Some people need arch supports as well.

When I was hiking the Appalachian Trail about 30 years ago (typically 15-20 miles a day), I wore 3 sets of socks - with the inner most one a synthetic that was slippery so the next sock would slide over it. You want your socks to slide against each other and to minimize rubbing (and blisters) on your flesh.

I also developed arch problems (32-40 Lb backpack depending if I just stocked up on food for the next few days) and stopped for a few weeks to get custom athletic arch supports made for my feet.

Note: Unfortunately I did not finish due to health issues that I could not figure out until years later. I laid up at a place that had lots of cats... I'm now convinced my actual health problem was resolved in a week or so; but, I did not know that I was allergic to cats.

I'm one who gets extremely tired, mentally dull, and limited stamina for anything, and need several long naps every day when I have allergy reactions. I never felt good enough to continue the hike; until after I returned home to Wisconsin and then 3-4 days later I had all kinds of energy. It took me another few years to experience cat allergies again and then I made the link. If only I had laid up someplace without cats... Life if full of interesting lessons; and the trip is still one of my great achievements on what I did (being an official at an Olympics and 2 World Championships is another, along with finding my wife).

Socks are important. If there is too much space in your shoe either wear a thicker sock or use two socks. Less space = less friction = less blisters.

Also keep the moisture to a minimum. Use talcum powder to prevent sweat from being a problem.

It might be normal if you're breaking in a new pair of hiking boots, or running shoes.

Depends what type of shoes you were wearing. I wear high heels almost every day so I don’t look short and my feet are pretty fucked up now.

I once had a coworker who was addicted to wearing heels. She actually got her pinky toes removed so she could wear them all day.

Is that actually a thing a doctor would do? I wear them for probably 8-10 hours a day and haven’t had to have any toes removed yet. 😂

I'm guessing it's a thing a doctor would do since she got it done. I remember when she showed me what her feet looked like. It was creepy. XD

Wearing the wrong type of shoe and the incorrect size can cause blisters. Perhaps you should change your shoes?

Maybe I should wear appropriate ones....

Walking shoes are sold in stores and online. Plenty to choose from.
        :)
