Is it normal that my friend has 3 kids at her age?

She's only 22 and she has 3 kids aged 4 (will be 5 this year), 2 (will be 3 this year), and a baby that's only a month old. IIN? I'm happy for her yes, but it just seems a little bit awfully young to me.

Not sure. I wouldn't have kids at 22 years old. I don't have any but if I did I would have them at 35.

That's a bit late unless you want to have problems getting pregnant: why do you think the IVF industry is booming with many of its customers have put off pregnancy until their fertility level has declined.

Physically she's probably had her kids at the best age for a woman: financially maybe not, but anyway the kids are there so speculating about whether or not she's too young is pointless.

Either way, it's not really any of your business

By the time she is 30 , she will feel like she is middle aged.

Yep it's normal. I'm 27 and people younger than me(19-14) have 2-6 kids already. They wonder why I haven't had any and even go as far as to call me selfish for not wanting kids. Most of the ones that have tried to call me out are on welfare and don't even have good relationships with the mother or father of their kids.

I feel that this amount of children at a young age is a bit strange but if she is happy with the decision shr has made then I do find this normal

Yes it's normal. I believe sex should be at an appropriate age. But it doesnt work that way but whenever your ready it will happen.

I had sex when I was 16 for the first time and got pregnant the same night. Lol. Now I am 20 and have two beautiful daughters. Its hard but there is options out there. Everyone do what is best for them. But not this one.

And if you don't want to have sex and someone makes you this is including oral whether being the giver or reciever, that is called rape. I know you know this but i felt i had to throw that in there.

2 kids. Only 20 years old. You probably have NO money and what a surprise you almost certainly are black.

Do the kids even have the same father? Do you even bother working a job?

Well either way you have the tax payers to help you out.

Can't you read? OP is writing about her friend, not herself. Ah well, racists are like that, just plain ignorant

If you think being a mother to 3 young children isn't work you're also being sexist: ever tried it? Just because it's not paid work doesn't make it any the less work

    • I am her friend. I've only known her since I was 4 or 5. It just seems a little odd and early since most people don't start having kids until their 20s (let alone have 3 before the age of 24). That's all I'm saying. I'm not saying what she did is wrong. And I said I was happy for her. She was the one who let me know about her family. :\

So you've been "friends" for most of your life but she had to let you know about her family? WTF?

You are young yourself so I realize that you are not aware that not so long ago it was "normal" for women to start having children in their late teens. Married women. Having 3 children by age 24 is by no means an oddity my young friend. My concern as her friend would be: a) Is she happy with her life. b) Is the father of these children in the picture here and is there some sort of financial security for these kids and your friend as well. c) Are you ready to give your friend emotional support, ready at the drop of a hat, if and when she needs it? That seems to me a more constructive way to approach things here rather than trying to pick holes in someone else's lifestyle. Either be a friend to your friend or butt the fuck out. 'kay? :-)

        • I am a friend to her (I try anyway) and no, I don't think the father is in the picture (It seems he has married someone else). She's single. I think she's happy though. No need to curse or think I'm saying she's in the wrong for the life she's living. I'm not trying to pick at her choice at all. I was just wondering if it was normal or not since nowadays, childbearing and raising is often put off until one's early-mid to even late 20s or early 30s. You even see people in their 40s and 50s having babies. She's currently the only 22-yr-old I know that has 3 kids. I was just saying it's not normal to me. But then again, my mom didn't have my older brothers until her late 20s and I wasn't born until she was 39 (nearly 40).

Not a choice I would have made but its not really all that strange to have kids that early.
