Is it normal that my housemate has stopped buying toiletries?

Ok, so what exactly I'm after is advice on how to deal with the situation...my housemate of 1 year has recently (over the last 2 months) stopped buying toilet paper, body wash, shampoo etc. she has also not been taking out the rubbish. She has been using my toiletries and fills up the bin until it overfills, which is when I take it out.

Talking to her would not resolve the issue. I am tempted to remove all my toiletries from the bathroom so she realises she needs to buy her own products!

There are two ways to go about this. One is your way. You hide your stuff. This is likely to piss her off or create tension between you and her. You might prefer this if you want her to learn a sour lesson. Or if you want the tension to lead to a conflict/conversation where you can finally sort things out.

But the second way she learns the lesson without endangering your housemateship with her. You still hide your stuff, but you make sure to leave empty/depleted toiletries hahaha. Toilet paper? Leave the cardboard roll in there, and hide your real stash. Wait until your body wash and shampoo bottles are empty, then buy new ones and leave empty ones in display. This is a safer route, where she still learns the lesson to have her own stuff, and she can't really be mad at you.

Ask her to buy something. Tell her something like,"we're out of toilet paper and I'm broke. Do you think you could pick some up?" She might take the hint.

Removing all your stuff is a good move and it will help you from talking, she's going to realise that she's realy wrong.
