Is it normal that my lisp is worst after hanging around someone else with a lisp

I started at a new school in which my mother's friend's daughter goes. So I take a ride with her and her mother to the train station for school every day. and we finish our commute together. She just happens to also have a lisp that is worst than mine. As I hung around with her I've either been noticing my lisp more or it's been getting worst. It's been a few days. Is this normal? What's happening and why?

ps lisp is a terrible word to say when you have a lisp. why did they name it that?!

My cousin has a mild stutter. Two of his high school friends did, too. When the three of them got together, their stutters all got worse.

I don't know why this is, though. Try google? I would only I don't really care enough right this second.

    • I stutter a bit too but it's not too bad hopefully I don't meet someone with a stutter too haha that'd just be a double wam right there.

        Have you tried speech therapy?

        • No. I haven't tried anything like that but I can correct it a bit on my own if I try and fix it. I do it like when I am on the phone and stuff. It's not 100 percent but if I mimic how other people speak I can make it fade so it's way less words I have problems with.

I never really stuttered for most of my life, then when my paternal grandmother died about nine years ago I developed a stutter for a while there.

    • It's so annoying like omg there is never a way to say you have a lisp without it coming through like holy shit even "speech" has a fucking s in it

It's common for people to imitate each other and pick up gestures or expressions from each other - look up mirroring - so I figure maybe it could be applicable to a speech pattern as well.

Herbert the Pervert has more of a whistle than a lisp.

No offense but do you have a gap of some sort? I usually find that people with gaps have speech problems... maybe braces if so?
