Is it normal to have overly religious parents? My parents are conservative Buddhists (mostly my mom) and she reads sutras, it’s kind of like the Bible for Christians, everyday. I can hardly talk to her because she’s reading it everyday. I seriously have to wait at least 5 minutes for her to finish each time. I’ve become distant and it’s come to the point where she told me not to say “I’m lonely” because it was disrespectful to the spirits surrounding us. I know this seems so crazy, but it’s my reality. And a part of me asks if it really is real.

    Lots of people take religion way too seriously so I guess it’s normal, but it can’t be healthy for her. It’s almost like when people are so obsessed with a tv show that it interferes with their normal life. You should probably try to get her out of the house more.

      You could apply that, to any obsession. Games, social media, drugs anything that makes a person decide whatever else is going on around them isn't important.
