I just found out that my mum likes Johnny Depp just as much as me, maybe more, and it's really bizarre... Has anything like this happened to anyone else?

    He isn't any of those characters he's played you know. He's an actor. Pretends to be interesting people for a living.

    he is probably closer to your mom's age so it shouldn't be that surprising. when she was your age she probably liked an actor who is either very old or dead by now.
