Is it normal that pencil shavings scare me?

The title is pretty self explanatory but allow me to further elaborate. Every time I am using a pencil to write with, I always get nervous when I erase something and it leaves behind pencil shavings. Usually I wipe them off the surface they are on, but then I get nervous that god forbid they get on my shirt. It has become a hassle to erase things, because it takes me five full minutes to check If I had all but exterminated all of them from my sight. Any suggestions?

    thats weird. maybe its just the mess that scares u. maybe ur like a germaphobe?

    I am about to blow your mind, friend.
    Crepe. Erasers.
    Yeah.
    Let me explain. Crepe erasers are a special kind of eraser used by many artists because they DO NOT create eraser shavings.

    I was blown away, too, because I LOVE to draw and I HATE when brushing the eraser shavings off the page wrecks the drawing. You can find them at pretty much any art supply place for fifty cents to a buck apiece.
    We all have at least one weird little phobia. Mine is electric pencil sharpeners (when I was little I had nightmares someone was shoving my fingers in the pencil hole. No idea why), so I always just use a handheld sharper. Problem solved.
    I wouldn't worry about your problem too much because, like I said, we all have at least one little phobia. Just use crepe erasers and party on.

    I know what you mean even though I do not consider myself as having this phobia. The shavings the eraser leaves behind are curly, tight and almost fibrous. They have a very unpleasant look to them and they are a pain in the ass to remove of. You could try just writing with pens, but you'll have to be extra careful not to make mistakes. If this interferes with you life too much, see a therapist that specialises in treating Phobias.
