Is it normal that people i barely remember from school try to add me on facebook?

I'll get friend requests from people and the name will be familiar, so I'll think about it and then remember "oh, that's
[insert name here] from [insert school here].

Other times I'd get a message and the person will recall times I don't remember, and that'll usually make me remember the person. Some of these people would ask to hang out or even ask if I was single.

Why track down people from elementary school, middle school, or high school? I never bothered to add any of those people and I deleted their messages after reading them.

Is it normal they try to add people from the past?

    Yes. They probably come across your profile and add you out of nostalgia and curiousty.

    I'm a nicer person since highschool. I was like Holden caulfield from catcher in the rye. Yeah that kind of person, so the less people remember me from that age the better.

    Yes, it's happened to me quite a bit.

    As for me, I've reached out to a couple of people I talked to and enjoyed being around, but that is about it. I don't really reach out to anyone who I barely spoke to.

    That's a key part of what Facebook is about - connecting with people from your past.

    They are curious and want to see how you turned out and what you’re up to. It’s normal but annoying.

      One would have to meet me in person to get a hint of how I turned out as I stopped using Facebook a couple of years back.

    There was this black dude in my town who in elementary I literally got in a fight with every day until we both got permanently banned from riding the bus. I just sent him a friend request the other day Id love to see his face when he sees its from me. He has like 5 kids now.
