Is it normal that suspense movies set off my anxiety?

I have bad anxiety attacks. And if a movie has lots of drawn out suspense moments I have to stop watching. Sets my anxiety off. Not a full blown attack but bad enough that I have to stop watching.

I guess you had best confine your viewing to 'chick flicks' then.

But history is filled with all kinds of anxiety producing information. Things like the kill zone of a nuclear bomb similar to the one used on Nagasaki if it landed near you, how many would die in your neighborhood if a tsunami like the one set off by the Krakatoa volcano swept over it, or even what would happen should something like the black plague strike where you live.
Naw, tearjerkers are the only safe way to go.

Maybe he should watch a chick flick about a sailor who fantasises about a beautiful woman, 42 years his junior, while on IIN all day.

Yea but jts not suspenseful because we got taught it all in school. Its not presented in a way meant to startle. Any way it doesn't bother me like a lot of movies and tv shows do.
