Is it normal that this renewed my faith in religion ?

Once again a major church figure follows her conscience. At least she isn't molesting children; she's just killing someone!
"Bishop Suffragan Heather Cook's vehicle collided with Tom Palermo, 41 on Saturday and (she) initially left the scene."
Here's a bishop in the church who kills a guy and hit and runs.
hypocrisy; the practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one's own behavior does not conform.
Oh sure, she came back some time later, but really, if a bishop in the church has no moral compass who does?
Disgusting.

Agreed not only religious people have a moral Compass.
Also sometimes people hid behind religion they aren't really good people they just use religion to appear that way...and everyone can make mistakes perhaps she panicked and was in shock and drove off? Then realizing her mistake came back?
Im not sure I want there...but people do hit in runs because they ether dont want to get in trouble or they panic.

    • They are the ones who spend their whole lives telling all of rest of us how we should live ours, aren't they? Shouldn't they lead by example?

Sociaty tells you how to live your life. If you are part of that church then they tell you how to live...if you are part of a different church then thats a different way to live...if you arnt part of a church at all thats another way...and you can choose ....its like you have the freedom of choice or something.
Laws tell you what you should and should not do...you can still choose to do them. If majority of people shun a behavior then that behavior in our sociaty is not acceptable or good... such as animal cruelty as an example. Most oeople are horrified when an animal is mistreated so mistreating an animal is bad behavior according to our sociaty and can even be punished.
you slso forget that they are humans and make human mistakes...why are you allowed a mistake and they are nit just because tgey belong to a religion ?

        • Hit and run is NOT a mistake. Perhaps the hitting part was an accident, but the running part is an intentional act.

I said perhaps she panicked and was in shock and drove off? Then realizing her mistake came back?
I dont know for sure. People that hit and run panic or do it to get out of trouble.
now wether it happened one way or the other she should still reseave a punishment.
But why point this out at all...why single this woman out...because she is part of a religion...you are mistakenly putting her on some
pedestal that she as a r eligiouse person should never have driven off in the first place....when it should be she as a person should never have driven off.
there are good and bad people in religion as there are in any aspect of life.

Hypocrisy is everywhere. Many people like to interpret the bible their own way. Members of the cloth are no different. Sure, there are some that live by the word of God, but with others, its like they let their power go to their head. Look at the Vatican and the atrocities that they have committed.

IIN that I don't understand the question? It seems like nonsensical rambling to me.

    • If one makes their living telling other people how to live their lives according to a specific code, don't you think they should honor that code?

Thanks, that's a lot easier. I think they should try their best to live up to their own standards, but I recognize that nobody is perfect and you don't have to be perfect to encourage others to be better than you are. This goes for religion, drugs, alcoholism, exercise, ect. There are limits of course. Criminals should be in jail.

    Because she is human....
Then again to be a doctor is another career, and there are certain standards one SHOULD meet....or it is especially disturbing

I have faith but I don't need a religion to get me that. religion is a conscious societal construct to either guide you to do better or worse. You don't need 10 commandments to tell you what should be common sense. It shouldn't have to be written down. Basically...it should be summed up by "live your life do the best you can...and don't be a dumb cunt"...basically.

Just because someone goes to church or is involved in it doesn't make them a good person.
