Is it normal the online atheist community just as bad as religious extremists

Honestly, I think the internet atheist community is just as bad, if not worse, than the religious lunatics. They see themselves as so smart and so much higher than religious people, yet I have seen from them that their intelligence is no better than the average Joe (who may be a Christian too). It appears that the only difference between them and the Christian extremists is that instead of "because God told me so/Godditit" they say "Because we're so much smarter because we don't believe in a god". I've seen many people uprating and approving answers that make absolutely no sense just because it matches their narcissistic antitheistic mindset, in the same way a Christian may bend facts to satisfy their points, and downrating answers that contradict. I've even seen several atheists saying that they couldn't be wrong just because they were atheists.

Is it normal to feel this way?

P.S. I'm not generalizing all atheists, or even the majority. I'm talking about the online atheist community, not atheist people.

    I bloody agree, as a proud atheist I'm bewildered by the hypocrisy I have observed by a minority of fellow atheists.

    They are quick to scream bloody Mary when a religious person discriminates or insults an atheist for their choice in life but yet to find it acceptance to do the same thing to others.

    I believe everyone is entitled to follow whatever they want. You want to believe in the Tooth fairy be my guest! Treat others as you would want to be treated yourself.

    only when they try to force their will on the rest of us, then they are no better than the Taliban, Al Qaeda or the religious right.

    I don't know if I agree with you or not!

    I'm an atheist myself, but I absolutely don't think atheists are better than religious people. It's not stupid to believe in something that cannot be proven. I just don't believe in it myself, that's all. Whatever other people believe is up to them and who am I to judge them for that?

    I do indeed think that people who are extreme in whatever religion (including extreme atheists in the way you describe them) are a danger to society. They don't have a feeling of respect for other opinions, a feeling wich I do have.

    Well I think the Atheist community will need to start breeding terrorists and forming theocratic governments to match the religious extremists.

    There will always be some people that conduct themselves in an immature way in any community. It's just part of the human condition.

    In the end it doesn't really matter from a truth standpoint. Even if all Christians were vastly more educated and intelligent than atheists I could still not bring myself to believe what they believe and even if in the opposite scenario all atheists were vastly more intelligent than theists it would not make atheism any more or less true or false.

        Yeah pretty much. Why IIN has so many "Is it normal I hate Christians" on here. Yes hate the man for loving his family and praying before he eats. As if that makes any difference to you. I prefer when people just accept each others religions or none religions but people all have to be dicks about everything and its very annoying.

      It is not just an opinion but fact. World wide statistics show that atheist have higher IQ than christians.

    I believe that religion is for the weak and those who won't take responsibility for their own actions.
    I do not feel I am weak and I take full responsibility for all my actions.
    Does that make me a "better" person? I don't know (probably not), but I am comfortable with who I am, without hypocrisy or guilt.
