Is it normal these days for people to find fault with literally everything?

Faults are normal. Everyone does stuff they regret, or don't. Some faults are 'worse' than others. But is it really normal to pick out faults for literally everything these days?

There's someone I know who picks out flaws and faults in everything. It could be about certain person or even something as boring as a pencil. This person will find a reason why pencils are controversial. And then it makes me feel like I'm a bad person for using a pencil, and that this person feels 'mighty' for basically shutting me up.

It's like the Tim Allen stuff going on right now - I don't care. I'm still going to watch his movies. That doesn't mean I support something wrong he did a hundred years ago. It doesn't even mean that I support HIM - I just watch some movies. I don't have any personal affinity for him. This goes for anything.

This is something I noticed widely across social media too so it seems common. Look I get it, if someone really did something terrible, then I agree it's terrible. But like, if someone likes a certain brand, you'll get a hundred people telling them all about how that brand has a controversial history, their business practices are 'sus', etc etc etc... It's like.. leave it alone, unless you are willing to commit to a cause and change it. I don't see the point in nit picking unless of course it's something obviously bad.

Maybe this person is depressed. I know from experience that depressed people can be very bitter and look for the negative in everything and start fights or make people feel bad. Not all depressed people obviously but depending on personality type depression shows up that way in some people. No one happy can be that annoying anyway so it's either a depressed person or someone who loves to start drama.
Some people get really into cancel culture which is a thing now. Unfortunately if one was to cancel every bad celebrity we'd have to cancel Hollywood as a whole and never watch another Hollywood film, pretty much. It's that bad. No one's gonna do that though because it's possible to appreciate the art but not the artist.

I know. You can't even express your opinion without a bunch of trolls telling you that you're wrong.

You're a great example of a troll. Opinions aren't right or wrong. They're yours and no one has the right to say otherwise.

Totally agree. I call it the Trumpification of society because it seems like so many people learned it from him. Tim Allen is a perfect example. That Last Man Standing show turned into a 30 minute bitchfest every single week to the point that it became unwatchable. Like, we get it. You hate democrats and you think “wokeness” is ruining the world, we don’t need you to shove it down our throats when we’re just trying to laugh.

Everything is about them, everything is a personal attack against them, I used to work with people like that and it’s exhausting just trying to have a simple conversation with them, because they can’t go more than two sentences without complaining about something, and the mental gymnastics they have to go through to make something about them is painful to watch.

They may be referring to him smuggling/trafficking a lot of cocaine. Unless he's done something else illegal, I dunno.

Yeah, but he's a Trump supporter now, and Trump has been saying we should execute drug smugglers/dealers...after a 2 hour trial, no less. So he's a big hypocrite, and pretty shitty for supporting that after he got off incredibly easy, and even became very wealthy afterwards, for trafficking a bunch of coke.

It's quite normal, it's called nitpicking, my housemate "finds fault" in me going in and out of the back sliding door, even to take a piss. I don't see either of what we're doing as a crime, I just don't listen to his faultfinding. You'll get it that some people will find fault in you, that your conforming as such has to be exact, I think the select few like you who are vulnerable someone will nitpick you, you're an easy target, it's done from a place of love, they're looking out for your best interest, just thank God that you're lucky to spend time with them because they have someone to talk to, and not listen to their nitpicking, you shouldn't feel guilty about using a pencil, but I suppose they're wooden and the lead breaks off easily, perhaps that's what they're on about, or perhaps they think you should write with a pen not a pencil, it's about getting the right things done, every detail, that's why they find fault in everything.

I suppose in being absolutely disgusted all you can do is kiss them goodbye and sit on the roof of your house, or perhaps exercise to the local pub and forget all about it, for now, it shouldn't even worry people that it's Tim Allen, a frigging celebrity, I support his normal everyday act but not his quirkiness, that's what seems to go on with his unique standups. It's very much like Canadian man's behaviour, I don't think in actuality it's American, it might be, when the Americans copy the Canadians, guess who came up with the flannel shirt? The Scottish Canadians of course! I'm glad you watch Tim's wacky performance as an actor and a standup, I think he was acting warmly on "The Santa Clause", and good at playing the believer in that fantasy, even though the child actor is the king actor, you would think he's actually Tim Allen's son, Tim Allen was the lead actor, the wife by another minor actor was very good in her own right, acting like the worried housewife of Santa Claus and being "concerned", when Tim says "concerned about what?", it was funny when he was reacting to the soy milk as if the dairy milk went sour, I suppose soy milk isn't fun to drink, but makes a nice alternative to real milk.
