Is it normal they call their cat by this name?
I live nearby to a black family. They have a black tomcat and more than once I've heard them refer to him as "that little ni--a." Why must they racialize animals? Is this normal?

I somehow doubt they refer to it that way because of the color of its fur. African Americans use the term as a replacement for the words "friend" and "person".
Meh, I used to have a black dog named Blackie. What they're doing isn't out of the ordinary.
Aww that's actually kind of cute in a weird way. I hope that kitty gets a lot of lovies. What's his real name?
The old guy I take care of told me about a black cat his family had when he was growing up named Tar Baby. *That* was racist.
That cat must've been hilarious if it could speak in human language because black people are funny.
I voted not normal because I read it wrong and didn’t realise they’re black.
I call my black cat a nigress. Lol. Idk if that even a real phrase.
Maybe it would be negress. Idk.
